![]() At the cost of disallowing non-Steam users from connecting. They provided a neat and very easy to use package that provides MP matchmaking. Which is why Steam reigned supreme for so long on PC. ![]() But I was also talking about games that need more than just direct IP (like ones that need persisting servers), yet aren't platform-locked. ![]() Like how most companies can't be bothered (or can't afford) hosting their own servers, or allowing users to set them up themselves, and all the other ways that MP could be done without dependency on a single platform. What I was trying to get at is beyond just the scope of this game, and the issue of DRM-free MP in general. I was trying to condense a big idea into a couple of sentences. XD I realize now I didn't make it very clear in my post. Epic Online Services is only required for cross-platform play, while "non-crossplay multiplayer is available using direct IP connection." Thanks for pointing that out! :DĪnd oh yeah, I know DRM-free MP is possible. The extra range from bows are good for mystics when they want to be safe.Skirtish: Not sure if you're aware, DRM-free mutiplayer isn't impossible and indeed this game offers it. Hunters I usually use bows, since their knife gives them an off-hand slot. (More reliable than guardian, depending on the situation.)Įdit: to clarify, I usually use crossbows with warriors. Or a shield and crossbow is good for a fighter with stalwart, so they can shoot approaching enemies while waiting. ![]() It lets mystics or rogue do guaranteed hits.ĭepending on the skills of your group, torches can also be really good. More importantly, a throwing axe can set up an additional flank for another character, which is critical on higher difficulties. More importantly, since an axe + crossbow gives you two limited two attacks, it's great for clearing out weak enemies. If you hit with 1 axe, then you crossbow character has already made up the damage 'deficit' that they would have had if they had had a bow. Essentially, on higher difficulties, using a crossbow unlocks combo-ing strategies that do much, much more damage than the somewhat measly +1 or 2 damage a bow gives over crossbows.įor instance, you only have 2 throwing axes, but they're swift actions, so you can throw and shoot/fight. Crossbows are really good! I prefer them over bows. ![]()
